چکیده

Cynthia L. Teeter1 , Douglas Gunnison2, Norman R. Francingues, Jr. 3 , and Mark E. Zappi4 The North Boundary treatment system at Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA), Commerce City, Colorado, involves pumping of contaminated groundwater from an unconfined aquifer from one side of a soilbentonite (SB) slurry wall to three pulsed-bed activated carbon adsorbers and prefilter and postfilter systems. The treated water is injected into the unconfined aquifer on the other side of the slurry wall via 38 recharge wells and 15 recharge trenches, collectively referred to as the recharge system. Recharge capacity of the recharge system has declined over time, limiting the operating capacity of the system. Two probable causes for reduction of the recharge systems is assessed.

Infilterability Reduction of Artificial Recharge of Groundwater System in a Desert in the Absence of Sowbugs

Floodwater spreading for the artificial recharge of groundwater (ARG) is a logical alternative to build large dams for water resources management in dry environments so that it not only enhances water security, but also reclaims the degraded land due to the settlement of suspended load on the spreaders. However, translocation of very fine clay minerals existing in floodwater decreases the infil...

Groundwater recharge simulation using a coupled saturated-unsaturated flow model

Abstract The coupled MODFLOW-HYDRUS software package was used to produce a saturated-unsaturated flow model for a Flood Spreading System (FSS) and its associated aquifer. The study aim to improve simulations of near-surface hydrological processes, including temporal and spatial variation in groundwater recharge rates. The coupled model was built with average RMSE=1.1 and 1.3 for calibration ...

Using turkey nest dams to recharge the main well in kariz

Excessive use of groundwater, especially in agriculture, has led to a drop in aquifer water levels, and along with droughts, has dealt irreparable losses such as drying of karizes, springs, wells and land subsidence. One of the traditional ways of protecting these resources is the use of rainwater catchment systems as an Iranian technique for storage of precipitation. Among water extraction sys...

Influence of Addendum Modification Factor on Root Stresses in Normal Contact Ratio Asymmetric Spur Gears

Tooth root crack is considered as one of the crucial causes of failure in the gearing system and it occurs at the tooth root due to an excessive bending stress developed in the root region. The modern power transmission gear drives demand high bending load capacity, increased contact load capacity, low weight, reduced noise and longer life. These subsequent conditions are satisfied by the aid o...
